Ankara University Faculty of Medicine and Neurosurgery Department, a first in the world with the operation of the head base tumor, which is operated with the robot called Da Vinci. Brain surgery with robotic technology was performed by the specialist Ümit Eroğlu in the specially equipped hospital of Ibn Sina Hospital. Eroglu explained that a 50-year-old female patient had discovered a large tumor in a bone, the site where the skull and spinal cord were connected, and that the tumor caused erosion at the base of the bone and head. Eroglu said that there is an approach in the world where there are robotic surgical approaches, but there is no surgery in the world that has been done from beginning to end with robotic surgery after it has started from the mouth like this one patients. Eroğlu continued, “Our patient is the first and only case in the world of free robot surgery and seated tumor surgery.” Previously used cases were robot-assisted surgeons, and robotic surgery was effectively used in this patient-specific manner.
Eroglu explained that the tumor of the Deep, narrow, and hard to reach, explaining that the success rate of postoperative outcomes using current methods was low, emphasizing that the robotic surgeon was a great advantage to the patient, Eroglu noted that the greatest success was minimizing the patient’s discomfort and the patient’s discharge two days after surgery.
