First robot brain surgery from Turkey

World’s first robotic surgery, brain surgery was performed in Turkey. Dr. Ümit Eroğlu, a specialist in brain and neurosurgery department of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ankara, who led the operation, said: “Our patient is the first and only case of brain balloon tumor surgery with free robot surgery in the World.”

Eroglu said that there is an approach in the world where there are robotic surgical approaches, but there is no surgery in the world that has been done from beginning to end with robotic surgery after it has started from the mouth like this one patients. Eroğlu continued, “Our patient is the first and only case in the world of free robot surgery and seated tumor surgery.” Previously used cases were robot-assisted surgeons, and robotic surgery was effectively used in this patient-specific manner.
